Lonely for Chin Chin Only

If you live in Melbourne, chances are you’ve probably heard of Chin Chin. If you know me personally, then you have DEFINITELY heard of Chin Chin. Located at 125 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, it is considered by myself, and many as one of Melbourne’s treasures and a restaurant that should be experienced frequently.

When posed with the question “Where would you like to eat?” you can guarantee my answer is going to be Chin Chin, if I sound a little bit obsessed, I am. Food is one of my big loves in life, and what made me fall in love with the Asian cuisine at Chin Chin is the bold flavours, bright colours and the fact that it is consistently tasty. I love taking first timers there and watching as they experience some of my favourite dishes.

Over a year ago I was on a bit of a photographic exploration of the city with my friend Chloe, having used up most of our energy wandering around the city photographing the various alleys and laneways, we decided to stop in at Chin Chin for some much needed fuel. With my trusty Nikon in hand I decided to take the current craze of photographing your food before you eat it to the next level and snap a few quick shots of my favourite dishes.

While it is basically impossible to order something that doesn’t taste amazing, I highly recommend the Spicy Corn & Coriander Fritters, Crispy Barramundi & Green Apple Salad with Caramelized Pork, Massaman Curry of Coconut Braised Beef and the Twice Cooked Grass Fed Beef Short Rib.

Tip from a veteran: Get there early, as it can fill up very fast, if there is a wait, you can head downstairs to Go Go Bar for a drink and a nibble and the staff will notify you when your table is available. I will say it is worth the wait.

It’s been a while (too long) since I’ve been to Chin Chin, you could say I am having some intense thoughts about their delicious food, so I wanted to re-visit that day and share these photos with you. If you are ever in Melbourne and looking for a restaurant to satisfy your hunger, head to Chin Chin and ask for the ‘feed me’ option, you won’t regret it. Okay…enough words, if you’re not convinced by now, then check out the deliciousness below.
